Starting a Club at Baldwin Park High School

Congratulations on wanting to start a club! Now you’re probably wondering, what do I need to do.

  1. Find 9 other students who are interested in joining your club.
  2. Find an advisor - this person must be a credentialed (certificated) member of the BPHS staff (teacher, counselor, school psychologist, speech therapist, administrator). This person must host your meetings and be willing to sign your paperwork and attend all events.
  3. Hold a meeting with the 9 other students and your advisor.
  4. At your first meeting
    • Finalize and approve your club constitution (Find the link to a sample below - create a copy and re-do the highlighted portions, and/or add more)
    • Vote on your officers
    • Sign the constitution and club application, which includes the budget form, social media and technology form, and bylaws.
  5. Submit your club applications AND constitution to ASB. Wait for approval to begin activities.

DEADLINES FOR PAPERWORK:
  • Announcements - The Friday before the announcement is to be read. Video announcements will be done on Friday, which means probably 2 Fridays before your activity for Video Announcements
  • Activity Requests and Purchase Order Requests - MONDAY - ASB Cabinet meetings are on Wednesday, so submit them by MONDAY to be on the agenda.
  • Vendor Forms - at least 2 days before the event, but this deadline may change
  • Carry Over Forms & Club Renewal Forms - MAY every school year.
  • Posters and flyers- submit to ASB office for approval.
  • NOTE: These deadlines may change in November.
