Baldwin Park Braves Secure Victory Bell in 2025 Crosstown Showdown

The Braves, led by Varsity Coach Robert Maxie and Principal Deborah Madrigal, defeated the Dons, led by Varsity Coach Arthur Ball, and Principal Vince Pratt, with a final score of 42-20.

The game kicked off with a nail-biting first quarter, as the Braves struck first with a touchdown, only for the Dons to answer immediately with one of their own. Both teams played with determination and grit, keeping the energy high on the field and in the stands.

The second and third quarters belonged largely to the Braves, who maintained steady control of the game while the Dons continued to fight back. Sierra Vista mounted an impressive comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring back-to-back touchdowns to rally their crowd, but Baldwin Park ultimately sealed the victory and claimed the bell for the 2025-26 school year.

Halftime featured dynamic performances from both schools, with marching band and color guard ensembles, as well as cheer squad aerial stunts. Sierra Vista, serving as host, kept spirits high throughout the night with lively music, cheer-led crowd games and a variety of food vendors.

The evening was marked not only by spirited competition but also by community pride. The entire Baldwin Park Unified Board of Education was present, joined by teachers, alumni, city council members, Valley County Water District representatives, and local partners in support of the students.

At the final whistle, the Braves celebrated their hard-fought win, and both teams ended the evening with a display of positive sportsmanship, reflecting the unity and tradition that make the Crosstown Showdown a highlight of Baldwin Park each year.
